DUVAL ELECTION: Races for Mayor, City Council, Property Appraiser to be decided

Jacksonville Mayoral Candidate Forum on Jacksonville's Morning NewsJacksonville, Fl — It all comes down to turnout over 12 hours today. It’s Election Day in Jacksonville. Voters will elect a new mayor to replace term-limited Lenny Curry.

Donna Deegan and Daniel Davis have been campaigning for months. Both appeared on April 25 on a Mayoral Forum hosted by WOKV in the Farah and Farah Performance Studio.Turnout is just over 19%, and Democrats hold a more than 6,000 vote lead over Republicans. But WOKV Political Analyst Rick Mullaney says that is not a comfortable margin.

“The Election Day advantage goes to Republicans. In the first election, Democrats had an advantage of about 5,000 votes going into Election Day. Republicans overcame that and ended up with a 7,000 vote advantage.
