Hundreds of athletes have descended on Durham Region for another edition of Ontario’s annual Parasport Games.
A number of events are planned over the course of the weekend, including sledge hockey, goalball and wheelchair basketball.More events are planned Sunday, including medal rounds. The closing ceremonies are set for later that day. “We have a rock wall here [at the Abilities Centre] with the folks from Aspire Climbing in Whitby,” said Co-chair Don Terry,. “They’re trained to work with people of all abilities. I just saw a young woman with cerebral palsy be lifted out of her chair and climb a rock wall.”
