A Durban woman who allegedly faked her kidnapping and demanded a R2m ransom from her husband made a brief appearance in the Durban magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
Her husband received a phone call from her, reporting she was kidnapped and pleading with him to deposit an undisclosed amount of money for her release. A few moments later, the husband received another call from a man who threatened to hurt the woman if the money was not paid.In court, Joseph’s accused attorney, Chris Gounden, said she is employed as a manager at a garage.
Gounden said the accused has kidney issues and is on chronic medication for another medical condition.The state sought a postponement, as three statements are still outstanding. TimesLIVE
