Wandile Duba scored a brace to help Kaizer Chiefs defeat Stellenbosch FC 2-1 on their 55th anniversary.

Wandile Duba gifted Kaizer Chiefs a sweet 55th anniversary present. Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs celebrated their 55th anniversary earlier this week, and Duba made sure Stellenbosch FC won’t ruin the celebrations during their Betway fixture. The Glamour Boys bounced back to winning ways at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening as Nabi’s lads came from a goal down to win 2-1.

Despite being dominant in the opening 10 minutes, Kaizer Chiefs were not clinical on goal, with former Golden Arrows star Bradley Cross missing a sitter in Stellenbosch’s box. However, Kaizer Chiefs were punished in the 20th minute after Khomotjo Lekolone tapped in a pass from Devin Titus. Duba levelled matters from Thatayaone Ditlhokwe’s headed pass. Nasreddine Nabi added command and flair to his squad with two quick changes at the half-hour mark. He introduced Mfundo Vilakazi and Tebogo Potsane, and their introduction was felt just 12 minutes after the restart. Duba sealed the win in the 57th minute as he tucked the ball past Stephens after a pass from Mfundo Vilakazi. ‘FOOTBALL, LIKE LIFE, IS FILLED WITH UPS AND DOWNS’: AMAKHOSI EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN The 55th anniversary came at a time when the club was struggling with form despite playing good football. Fans were more than convinced that Duba’s brace was a perfect gift for the Soweto giants. Over the years, Kaizer Chiefs has quickly become one of the biggest clubs in South Africa. However, the club, founded 55 years ago in Phefeni, Orlando West in Soweto, has struggled with form. Speaking on the 55th anniversary, Dr. Kaizer Motaung said, “As we celebrate 55 years, we also acknowledge the challenges we have faced along the way.” The Kaizer Chiefs owner added, “Football, like life, is filled with ups and downs, yet it is during those tough times that we have learned the most. “Our ability to adapt, innovate, and overcome obstacles has strengthened our resolve and united us as a Club.” Chiefs intensify their pursuit of Appollis, aiming to secure the dynamic attacker as a addition to their squad before the window closes
