Mamelodi Sundowns struck late in the first half to take a slender lead over Sekhukhune United at the halftime break.Sundowns made only one change from their big win over Kaizer Chiefs, as Siphelele Mkhulise took the place of Andile Jali while Abubeker Nasir was unavailable due to injury. Sekhukhune, meanwhile, handed a debut to Wonderboy Makhubu who joined Tshegofatso Mabasa and Victor Letsoalo upfront.

The Brazilians patiently built their play from the back and were able to open up a low lying defence by Sekhukhune and on 17 minutes Peter Shalulile found the back of the net after a through ball by Aubrey Modiba but the goal was disallowed for offside. The visitors increased their tempo going forward, witih Khuliso Mudau going close to breaking the deadlock four minutes before the half-hour mark with a first-time shot that missed the top corner by a whisker

Although Masandawana got a bit of resistance from Babina Noko after that, Shalulile eventually broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime with a finish off his thigh after a cross by Gaston Sirino.Sekhukhune United:Subs:Mamelodi Sundowns:Subs:
