The National Weather Service has recorded 60 drownings at U.S. beaches, raising red flags in the rise of powerful storms and a lifeguard shortage. Here's what to know.
Although some scientists have suggested that climate change and warming oceans are fueling more summer storms, leading to a heightened risk of rip currents, NOAA officials said more research is needed to determine whether there is a connection.
