An insurance company has revealed some little-known driving laws you may not be aware of - including one about driving your pets around.
If you're heading off on a late summer staycation and plan on bringing the whole family, including any pets, you may have to prevent any furry friends from sitting in the front seat beside you. An insurance company has warned that drivers could be fined a hefty £5,000 and slapped with nine points if they're caught doing this.
And one rule, which bans drivers from using their phone to pay at a drive-thru, could land you with a £200 fine and six points on your licence. InsureTheBox says: “Using your phone when behind the wheel is illegal in all cases, unless your engine is off and the handbrake is on” - so it’s best to use a bank card at all times.
Making rude gestures or shouting at other drivers is also against the law under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, and you could be fined £1,000 or given three licence points if you're caught doing this.
