Police have charged a Gloucester County man with death by auto following a high-speed fatal crash last month.
Gabriel H. Woolson, 22, of Williamstown, was allegedly traveling at 119 mph just three seconds before he struck a car on Route 322/South Black Horse Pike near Ocean Lane in Monroe Township on Dec. 14, according to details included in an affidavit of probable cause. Evan Silverstein, 52, of Marlton, was driving west on Route 322 around 5:40 p.m. when he attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot, according to Monroe Township Police.
As the car was turning across the eastbound lanes, Woolson’s car struck the rear passenger side of Silverstein’s vehicle, police said. Data recovered from Woolson’s vehicle revealed his speed dropped to 103 mph one second before impact, the affidavit states.He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital a short time later.
Woolson suffered a minor injury in the crash, while a passenger in his car suffered cuts to his left leg and right hand, according to court documents.It wasn’t clear Monday afternoon if he had an attorney.
