Police and the Coppell Fire Department responded to the intersection of West Bethel Road and South Freeport Parkway about 7:20 p.m. Thursday evening. Police said a maroon Honda Accord speeding north on Freeport ran a red light and struck a silver BMW sedan traveling east on West Bethel. According to police, Cuyuch — identified as the Honda’s driver — was fleeing an accident that took place on Interstate 635 “just prior” to the collision. The investigation is ongoing, but police said they do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
Police said two of the BMW’s five occupants died, a 41-year-old woman from California and a 69-year-old woman from Plano. Their identities have not been released. The remaining three occupants were taken to a hospital and are stable, authorities said.Related Stories
