Driver in fatal bus shelter crash may have suffered medical incident: police yyc
Police were called to the intersection of 36th Street and 17th Avenue S.E. around 9:25 a.m. for reports of a collision. Investigators determined a Dodge Ram, operated by a man in his 70s, was travelling north on 36th Street when he crossed the intersection and mounted the curb. The driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital. Police say speed is considered to be a factor in the collision and investigators are also looking at a medical incident suffered by the driver as another possible cause.Article content Following the crash, police took the driver into custody, but he has since been released. He remains in hospital.
The collision resulted in police closing a stretch of 36th Street S.E. through much of the day on Sunday. It reopened in that evening. The CPS traffic section is continuing to probe the circumstances of the crash.
