The driver of a vehicle in which 18-year-old Marilize Nortier died in 2019 has been found guilty of manslaughter.Sidney Berry from Groot Brakrivier was found guilty of manslaughter in the Oudtshoorn Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after a four-year-long trial.

A motorist discovered Berry along the road at around 6:45am and took him home to shower. The motorist testified that Berry had such a strong smell of alcohol on him that he had to open his car windows. He was taken back to the scene of the accident afterwards, where he learned from a police officer that someone else was in the car. He was taken to the George Mediclinic for injuries to his face, head, arm, shoulder and hip.At around 7:40am, a farm worker reportedly spotted a body in the vehicle.
