A driver is dead after a flying wheel struck three vehicles along the QEW Tuesday afternoon.
Burlington OPP said the ejected tire came from a truck and open-boat trailer vehicle headed westbound on the QEW.the wheel bounced to the eastbound side approaching Winston Churchill Boulevard. The flying tire crashed into three vehicles, killing the driver of the first impacted car, before it was wedged underneath the last impacted vehicle.“We have a full highway closure of the QEW Toronto bound at Fort Drive,” Schmidt said.A similar incident took place in August 2020 when aAt the time, a pickup truck was towing a trailer while travelling on the west lane. One of the trailer’s tires got detached, crossing into eastbound express lane where it impacted a car’s windshield.
