Johnston rejected Thijs’ claim he had a left turn arrow when he drove into the path of Kelly Ross’ oncoming motorcycle at the intersection of 36th Street and Peigan Trail S.E. Thijs admitted he was impaired at the time of the collision, having consumed three beers and a bottle of vodka leading up to the crash.Article content
His blood-alcohol concentration taken after his arrest showed he had 170 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in his system, more than double the legal driving limit of 80 mg.
