Racing through a construction zone earns additional charges on top of the stunt-driving charge
A 25-year-old driver from Toronto had his vehicle impounded and his licence suspended after Nipissing West OPP say they nabbed the car for stunt driving.
On July 24 at 8:53 p.m., Nipissing West officers report clocking the vehicle at 145 km/h in a posted 70 km/h construction zone on Highway 69 in the City of Greater Sudbury. The driver now faces three charges: racing a motor vehicle, speeding in a construction zone and speeding at more than 50 km/h over the posted limit.
The driver was issued a 30-day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. The accused was released on a provincial summons' and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on Sept. 6.
