A driver was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving Friday night after a crash left a 19-year-old man dead in the community of Valley Center, a California Highway Patrol official said. Officers responded to reports of the collision around 8:15 p.m. at West Tribal Road and Valley Center Road.
Gerber said West Tribal has a stop sign, while traffic on Valley Center Road does not have to stop in either direction. Gerber said the teen entered the intersection 'for reasons still under investigation.' He died before he could be taken to a hospital. The teen's name will not be released until his family is notified. The driver of the Expedition, a 34-year-old man from Ranchita, Calif.
