Downtown roads to close for Chinese New Year celebrations Sunday

Some downtown roads will be temporarily closed Sunday for celebrations marking Chinese New Year and the start of the Year of the Rabbit.

The parade will have two lions on two different routes, both starting at 1 p.m. in the 500-block of Fisgard Street and ending at the same location at 3 p.m. That portion of the street and a number of downtown intersections will be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. One lion will follow a route along Fisgard, Douglas Street, Herald Street and Store Street, while another lion will go along Fisgard to Government Street, Pandora Avenue and Fan Tan Alley.
