Police respond to a stabbing near the corner of Rideau and Mackenzie streets in downtown Ottawa July 14, 2022. A couple of downtown streets are closed as police investigate the stabbing of a man near the Fairmont Château Laurier hotel.At about 10 a.m. Thursday, police and paramedics received a call about a stabbing in the area of Rideau Street and Mackenzie Avenue.
Paramedics said a man was found outside and was taken to The Ottawa Hospital's Civic campus trauma unit. Rideau Street is closed to westbound traffic between Sussex and Mackenzie and Mackenzie is closed between Rideau and Murray while police investigate. OC Transpo bus routes 6, 7, 14 and 15Patrol officers are currently in the area of Rideau & Mackenzie in response to a stabbing. One person suffered serious injuries. This incident is ongoing. Expect to see an increased police presence in the area.
