A witness who saw the crash said there were no passengers on the bus when it hit the bridge
Dramatic pictures show the roof of a double-decker bus ripped off after hitting a bridge on Monday evening .Pictures taken from the scene show the aftermath, with the entire roof completely ripped off and chairs on the upper floor left completely exposed. A number of police vehicles could also be seen in attendance.
One witness who contacted the Manchester Evening News said there were no passengers on board at the time. They added: "It was a low bridge that the bus tried to go under - but the bridge was too low and cut off the roof of the bus. "The bus drove all way under which peeled the top off with ease. Police responded and closed both sides, there are no ambulances present."
