Am I Being Unreasonable? actor Lenny Rush won Best Male Performance in a Comedy Programme
The Bafta TV awards were rather unremarkable, weren’t they? Sure, Siobhán McSweeney’s speech was hilarious, and Best Actress winnermade an urgent plea to the powers that be to criminalise harmful content online. But other than that, it was a pretty tame night in TV land. But look a little closer – specifically, at the list of winners – and you’ll notice something remarkable. Not everyone who was invited on stage to collect their award was white. Neither were they able-bodied. Some were even women over the age of 40. Bafta , it seems, is trying to do better when it comes to celebrating a wide range of diverse talent.
