Dominique Pelicot, a Frenchman found guilty of drugging and raping his former wife and soliciting dozens of men to do the same for over a decade, will not appeal his conviction. His lawyer, Beatrice Zavarro, stated that an appeal would force Gisele Pelicot to endure new confrontations, which Pelicot refuses to inflict upon her. Zavarro emphasized that it is time to bring the legal proceedings to a close.
The deadline for appeals is Monday, and 17 of Pelicot's co-defendants have already filed appeals. Pelicot was astonished by these appeals, especially from individuals who apologized to Gisele Pelicot during the trial. Gisele Pelicot was praised for her courage and dignity throughout the three-month trial.
