The Dodgers lost their third game in a row in Phoenix as rookie starter Michael Grove couldn’t get through three innings, giving up nine runs.
PHOENIX — After playing the Arizona Diamondbacks eight times in the first 10 games, the Dodgers will not see their National League West neighbors again until August.The Diamondbacks pounded Dodgers pitching for a third consecutive game Sunday, wracking up 16 hits and stealing five bases along the way in an 11-6 thumping of the Dodgers.
In the three losses, Dodgers pitching surrendered 29 runs on 43 hits, including four home runs, 11 doubles and two triples. The Diamondbacks batted .384 and ran the bases at will, going 8 for 8 in stolen base attempts. Grove didn’t make it through four innings, giving up nine runs on 12 hits while retiring just nine hitters. After two starts as the fill-in fifth starter, Grove has a 14.73 ERA.
