NEW YORK — Mookie Betts was standing in the tunnel behind the visitor’s dugout at Busch Stadium, sporting a .243 batting average in mid-May and bemoaning his lack of consistency over the past couple of seasons.
It is Betts’ best sustained performance as a Dodger and perhaps his best since his American League MVP season in 2018 with the Boston Red Sox. Betts said he has found “a mechanical cue and feel” in his swing that he’s “able to repeat over and over again.”Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he sees a happier and healthier Betts this year “for various reasons” — one of them being his increased playing time on the infield.
