The Dodgers met with pitcher Justin Verlander for a potential role in the rotation. However, there are other pitchers who fit what the team is looking for.
But for now, one hole remains in the rotation. And with the winter meetings set to kick off next week, there are several options the team could pursue.
Most of all, Verlander would give the club the ace they will be missing in Buehler, fortifying a rotation that is expected to include Kershaw, Julio Urías, Tony Gonsolin andThere will be plenty of competition for Verlander’s signature. Even if he doesn’t return to the Astros — who reportedly have been reluctant to give him a three-year contract,— the pitcher has garnered interest from the New York Mets, New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves.
