Lance Lynn ran into a little trouble in the third inning and a little bit more in the fourth but otherwise mostly cruised through six innings. Lynn, who allowed three runs in seven innings against the A’s on Tuesday in his first start for the Dodgers after being acquired in a swap with the White Sox, allowed the Padres four hits and walked two.
The 43-year-old left-hander, who pitched for the Dodgers from 2016-19, hit Freddie Freeman with a 3-1 curveball but had two outs and was up 0-2 on Amed Rosario in the first inning when Rosario went the other way with a 91 mph fastball, sending it just over the wall in right field and just fair to put the Dodgers up 2-0.
Hill, who is in his 19th big-league season and is the oldest player in the major leagues, would get through the third inning despite hitting another batter and walking one. But that concluded his shortest outing of the year after 77 pitches.
