New details have been released in the case of a man accused of randomly attacking multiple people with a hammer at aAccording to court records, the suspect reportedly has a history of threatening people with a hammer and displayed increasingly paranoid behavior in the weeks leading up to the attack last month.
That suspect, Richard Aaron Quentin Gordon, 39, was charged Wednesday with three counts of felony assault for randomly attacking three people at the Beacon Hill light rail station and threatening people with a hammer on Sept. 28.
According to court records, at least one of the tips that led police to the suspect came anonymously from someone identifying him as a patient at Bailey-Boushay House. This is exactly the kind of case King County prosecutors are going to rush file," Casey McNerthney, a spokesperson for the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said. "When you have a violent attack like this, particularly on a victim at random, that’s concerning. The public wants to know we’re going to follow through, and we are."
KOMO has spoken with some of the victims since Gordon’s arrest who said they are resting a little easier now that the suspect is behind bars, and they’re continuing to recover.Meanwhile, the suspect is being held at the King County Jail on $1 million bail due to his violent charges and his history. Gordon is due in court for an arraignment on Nov. 1.
