Doctor Who will be showrunner Russell T Davies' sole creative focus for years to come, and that's a great sign for the future of the show.

Russell T Davies doesn't plan to work on anything else over the course of the years that he will be running Doctor Who. Davies is already a familiar name for the long-running sci-fi show, as he previously headed the revival that brought Doctor Who back from cancelation in 2005.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Previous showrunner Chris Chibnall's run saw declining ratings for the show and several convoluted retcons that left the show listless. Davies hopes to bring back interest, while also returning to the elements that made his original run on Doctor Who such an international success. In an interview with the Table Manners podcast, Davies explains that he intends to spend quite some time with the series.

"Years actually. I will have to spend years on that. [Other things,] not for a while. I am sorry. Time to give these young people a bit of space.”What Will Russell T Davies' Second Doctor Who Run Look Like Davies' second run on Doctor Who will be quite the nostalgia trip for the series. Even Tennant is returning, after the shocking ending of "The Power of the Doctor" saw Jodie Whittaker's Doctor regenerate into Tennant's form.

With Doctor Who enjoying an increased budget, thanks to the BBC's partnership with Disney, the show can enjoy even larger stakes and better effects. At the same time, Doctor Who will still be clinging to what makes it such an iconic show, as Davies intends to stay true to form.

The BBC also intends to create multiple Doctor Who spin-offs. After the success of Star Trek, Star Wars, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's no surprise that another iconic science fiction franchise is attempting to branch out to create a universe of its own. With the Doctor Who landscape no longer tied to just the Doctor, it can grow far beyond expectations and truly flesh out his multiverse.
