An AI browser extension puts the power of AI in easy reach but users should be mindful of what permissions those extensions have.

Privacy firm Incogni analysed 70 of the top Chrome Web Store extensions to see how much data they request.

Incogni separated the risk an extension represents into two categories namely Risk impact and risk likelihood. However, users should take note of what data these extensions have access to. Researchers found that 31 out of the 70 extensions they analysed collect personally identifiable information including names, addresses and identification numbers. As many as 15 out of the 70 collect information about user activity including mouse position, keystroke logging and network monitoring.
