High school football games will start as early as 7 p.m. in many stadiums which means that a kickoff temperature of 100 degrees or beyond will be the norm....

If you will pardon the quick “back in my day” digression, school once upon a time started the day after Labor Day. The high school football season started on the second Friday of the school calendar, placing it somewhere around mid-September. And that was before we had put the planet on full broil. The difference, of course, is that we did not have 64-team playoffs in a variety of classes back in those days.

Does anyone recall Austin Westlake beating Southlake Carroll 52-34 in the 2020 Class 6A Div. I state title game?
