Do the Cowboys have a Dak Prescott problem? DallasCowboys
struggled mightily in Sunday’s divisional round loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Prescott completed 23-of-37 passing attempts for 206 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Prescott struggled down the stretch of the 2022 campaign but should manage to bounce back in 2023.
Prescott and Dallas’ offense were stagnant throughout the entire contest. They were inefficient on third down and gained only 282 total yards of offense, the second-lowest net total of any offense competing in the divisional round. Both of Prescott’s interceptions were ill-advised throws and head-scratching decisions, as Dallas’ starting signal-caller battled bouts of inaccuracy.page threw shade at Prescott at the conclusion of their defeat.
Prescott wrapped up his regular season in extremely concerning form. Prescott threw 11 interceptions in Dallas’ final seven regular-season contests. He threw at least one interception per game through that stretch and had four multi-interception showings. Prescott seemingly put those concerns to bed in Dallas’ dominant wild-card victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Prescott completed 25-of-33 passing attempts for 305 yards, four touchdowns, and zero turnovers in a 31-14 win over the Buccaneers. Prescott was sharp and appeared to have put his struggles behind him. It was short-lived as Prescott’s lackluster form unfortunately returned to doom the Cowboys against the 49ers.
Prescott’s chances of bouncing back in 2023 largely revolve around Dallas’ offseason efforts—their offensive personnel could look quite different next season.
