South Africans criticised Telkom for giving its customers free 1GB data to apologise for the network outage.

Telkom had a massive service interruption in South Africa on Monday, 13 May which affected its internet and phone call services.The service provider @TelkomZA said on X: “Dear Customers, we are aware of the network outage affecting our customers. Our technicians are hard at work to restore the network. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. “ there was a spike in reported problems related to the Telkom network from 13:40 on Monday afternoon.

“Our team is actively addressing the issue to ensure it is resolved as a matter of urgency. The network is now restored but some parts of the network are still synchronising, and we expect the entire network to be fully online in an hour. Our technical teams are investigating the cause of outage.”Please accept 1GB Telkom data as a token of our apology. We’ll roll this out over the next few days, check in on this post once yours has landed.
