“We decided to honour what Ukrainians are fighting for. They are fighting for our identity and our culture. That is our strength this year,” Kolbe says. In 2019, the festival drew 30,000 people, featured 550 performers and required help from more than 250 volunteers, Kolbe says. Among the vendors will be two Ukrainian painters, a children’s illustrator, a seller of artisanal bath and beauty products, a honey vendor and Duke Fine Foods, a recently opened Ukrainian-owned grocery store in Bells Corners. Perogies, borscht and sausage will be available at the marketplace.
