Disney's Bob Iger celebrates his first day back as the studio's CEO after taking over from his successor, Bob Chapek.
Following the surprising announcement of his return, Disney's Bob Iger is celebrating his first day back as the studio's CEO. After over 20 years at the studio, Iger announced he would be stepping down as CEO in early 2019 at the end of his contract, with Bob Chapek eventually being named as his successor in the post and the board of directors tasking him with guiding Chapek.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Just ahead of the month closing out, Bob Iger took to Twitter to reveal he is officially back as Disney CEO. The image shows the exterior of one of Disney's buildings, featuring the seven Dwarves of Snow White fame, all dolled up for the holiday season, and sees Iger expressing his excitement to be back.
Considering Iger was the mind behind Disney's acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel Entertainment, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox, the biggest expectation surrounding his return as the studio's CEO is to shift back towards theatrical releases, as well as building up their franchise roster. In his absence, Marvel Studios has proceeded with business as usual, though Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen the same divisive reviews from critics as Phase Two.
It does seem likely, though, that Iger will focus towards getting Disney's animation output back on track.
