Disgraced former Australian Football Hall of Fame inductee Barry Cable has been charged with seven counts of child sex offences. WA Police have charged Cable, 80, with five counts of indecent dealings with a child under 13 and two counts of carnal knowledge , dating back to 1967 and 1968.
Barry Cable charged over child sex offences. 7NEWS understands Cable was 24 at the time and playing for WAFL outfit, the Perth Demons. His alleged victim was “between nine and 10 years old at the time”, according to WA Police. Cable was the subject of a civil case brought by one person in June last year. During those proceedings, four other women gave evidence against him. Two allege they were abused while he was playing for North Melbourne in the VFL.
