Support our high school sports coverage by becoming a digital subscriber.Dijon Stanley and the Granada Hills Charter boys relay team made a name for themselves – and the LA City Section – at the CIF State track and field championships in Clovis Saturday.

Stanley, who’s also a football standout committed to Utah, crowned himself a state champion in the 400-meter race and the boys 4×100 relay, making him a two-time state champion. The speedster won the 400 in 45.77 seconds, beating his state-leading time of 45.92, and helped the 4×100 relay team win in 40.39 – just .15 seconds off the state-meet record – along with junior Jordan Coleman, senior Jayden Smith and junior Kanye Martin. Granada Hills boys 4×400 relay team finished third in 3 minutes, 15.14 seconds. Stanley also finished second in the 200, behind Serra’s Roderick Pleasant, in 20.95.

Pleasant won the 100 and the 200 in 10.20 and 20.67, respectively. Pleasant’s 100 time beat the all-time state record of 10.30. Wow. Dijon Stanley. Beats his own state-leading time at the state meet in his last 400m of high school track — 45.75 to take boys’ 400 in Clovis.
