The Digby and Area Housing Coalition has purchased the Siesta Motel in downtown Digby to convert the property into affordable housing units. TINA COMEAU PHOTODIGBY, N.S. — The Siesta Motel in downtown Digby is going to be converted into affordable housing units.
The coalition is operating the Siesta as a motel until mid-September, when it expects to start converting the units into affordable housing. When the Siesta Motel was built in 1954, it was just two or three cabins. Then it was added to over the years. Robinson says the coalition will be writing a funding proposal for the renovation work. “We are working with the federal and provincial governments. They are trying to help us.”
Robinson says people can give charitable donations to the coalition through the Charity Foundation of Nova Scotia. Tax receipts are issued.
