Peel Regional Police said that the accident happened at around 3 a.m., when a truck rolled over, blocking the westbound lanes on Highway 409 from Highway 427 to the airport. OPP spokesperson Sgt. Kerry Schmidt told the Star that the express lanes to the airport are currently blocked as the OPP is working on cleaning up a diesel spill.
Passengers can still get to the airport if they’re on the collectors, Schmidt said, adding that he doesn’t have an estimate for when roads will reopen. “If you’re travelling today, please leave plenty of time to get to the airport,” Toronto Pearson said in a tweet.
