The residents of Diepsloot have been promised an inter-ministerial intervention to address their safety concerns.

JOHANNESBURG - The community of Diepsloot has been assured of an inter-ministerial intervention aimed at addressing their safety concerns.

On Tuesday they paused their week-long demonstration to hold a memorial service for the late CPF chairperson, John Makula, who was tragically gunned down two weeks ago.There remains a strong likelihood, however, that the community will resume their protest until President Cyril Ramaphosa personally pays a visit to the area.

In the meantime, Police Minister Bheki Cele assured the mourners that their concerns are being dealt with.
