Waking Nightmare is On Demand.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT A perfect reflection of its title, Waking Nightmare tells the story of a young woman whose worst nightmare comes to life following the death of her friend. Jordan's grief manifests itself in the form of sleepwalking, causing her to turn to Ambien in the hopes that it will end her manic episodes. However, Jordan begins to suffer from memory loss, leaving her to wonder what sins she may be committing during her blackouts.

Diane Franklin: The subject of a waking nightmare. I don't want to give it away, but it's about what this person does when they are in this sort of fugue state. I'm the mother, and my daughter sleepwalks. She's been doing it since she was little, but it's been growing and growing with more severity as she's gotten older. Shelley Regner did a wonderful job playing my daughter, and we got some really cool scenes together. We had really good chemistry.

On that same note, Danielle proves that she'll do anything for her child. What kind of work did you and Shelley do together to create this dynamic? She did a beautiful job. But there was something that they wanted to include in the story that was not cool. It was not scripted. For people who make indie films, you need to be brave enough to tell people what you want when you hand the person the script and not make changes that are tonally different and not cool to the actor. We all know what's cool, and what's not cool. All I can say is this, I had a waking nightmare.

Danielle is obviously a complex character. Was there anything you wanted to bring to her that wasn't on the page? Ghosts and vampires would be very cool. I'd love to do that. It's the unknown. That's why it's fascinating. A lot of times, when someone commits a crime in the story, it's about who did it. But in horror, it's the unknown that could be the person who did it. It could be aliens, it could be zombies, and I love that aspect of it. There's no preconceived idea—it's everyone's imagination. That's why I really enjoy horror, itself.
