A former adjudicator in the Department of Home Affairs ( DHA ) has been convicted of corruption. Phanuel Mokomo was found guilty of offering a bribe of R10,000 to an internal investigator to halt an investigation into his corrupt activities. The incident was reported to the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation ( DPCI ), leading to an entrapment operation and Mokomo's arrest. The case is set for sentencing on February 18, 2025.
Additionally, the DHA dismissed 18 officials for various offenses including fraud and corruption
