The DGA announced their lineup for first-time directors, including international breakouts like ‘Saint Omer’ director Alice Diop and the year’s most acclaimed debut, ’Aftersun‘ director Charlotte Wells.
, however, Kosinski dove into his process of making the film, working closely with Cruise, and telling a new kind ofstory even within the world established by the 1986 original.
He also looks back at the film’s screening at Cinema Con last spring, and when he realized he had a hit on this hands: “I remember. people sniffling through some of the more emotional scenes, and the cheers and the clapping. And we came out of that and Glen and I looked at each other and it was like— it was quite an experience.”
