Warmer temperatures and melting ice is leading to more normal operations at DFW International Airport and Dallas Love Field, but American Airlines and...

Airports are continuing to advise travelers to check with airlines in the event of cancellations, delays or other flight changes.“Dallas Fort Worth International Airport continues to mitigate the impacts of this week’s winter weather and to treat surfaces as needed to ensure everyone’s safety at DFW,” airport spokeswoman Cynthia Vega said. “While road conditions are improving, customers should still allow for extra time when traveling to DFW.

Passenger volumes at Dallas Love Field, where there are only 34 cancellations in and out of about 400 scheduled flights, are high and close to normal, Love Field spokeswoman Lauren Rounds said. “As temperatures increase and the storm warnings are lifted, DAL’s airport operations have moved to recovery mode and are prepped to transition to normal operations,” she said in an email. “Both runways are open and our airfield team is implementing cleaning/clearing protocols as ice melts.”

The freezing temperatures and slick roads essentially shut down airports on Tuesday and Wednesday, with only a handful of flights taking off and landing at each airport, even though teams were plowing runways and treating them with salt. Southwest Airlines spokeswoman Tiffany Valdez said the carrier’s network operations team is “monitoring the weather system and making adjustments as necessary.”North Texas is still the primary pain point for travel throughout the U.S., with only about 170 cancellations elsewhere in the country.
