DEVELOPING | Ramaphosa to challenge Phala Phala report in court
- Political analysts believe the most likely option for Cyril Ramaphosa is to resign.
President Cyril Ramaphosa, who maintains that he did nothing wrong, has sought legal advice on a possible challenge to Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo's report on the Phala Phala break in but has been advised not to review it, writes Karyn Maughan.Kyle Cowan | Arthur Fraser's Phala Phala gambit - when spies play politics, democracy loses
The mood among Ramaphosa's top aides has apparently shifted from glum defeat to more determined, with News24 reporting that Ramaphosa had been convinced to delay announcing his resignation and instead, to"fight, fight, fight"."I doubt there will be an address today; fight-back strategies are being explored and there is an overwhelming sense that the president needs to fight on for the best interests of the country," they said.
A meeting with ANC provincial chairpersons finally convinces Ramaphosa on Thursday not to make a public announcement before the ANC met on the matter.
