High Court dismisses disgruntled ANC members push against NEC candidate list
The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has dismissed an urgent application by nine disgruntled members calling for the ANC’s list of 200 ANC NEC candidates to be set aside.The matter, which was held virtually, was dismissed with costs. The court found that there was no urgency as the members could still participate at the national conference by being nominated from the floor.
The five ANC MPs who broke ranks with the party directive and voted for the adoption of the Section 89 Phala Phala report will have their fate deliberated by the incoming ANC national executive to be voted in at its national conference. Addressing the media on Wednesday night at the ANC in Gauteng’s general provincial council, Mashatile confirmed that all members who defied the party would be referred to the disciplinary committee chaired by Ralph Mgijima.
