Destiny 2 dev calls enemy scaling “lazy,” sparking outrage from Diablo 4 community Destiny2 DiablolV Blizzard Diablo

Diablo 4 continues to make history as it recently set the record for the best-selling opening period in Blizzard’s history. However, it seems that some people aren’t pleased with what the latest series installment has to offer as one Destiny 2 developer has now decided to describe the enemy scaling system present within the game as “lazy.”, also mentioned that it’s “one of the worst ideas in video games” because it “negates several play styles, ruins player power trips, and just sucks.

Now, even though there are plenty of other games that have integrated enemy scaling into their systems, it seems that the dev decided to single Diablo 4 out because it’s the most recent, high-profile entry to have this feature included. Unfortunately for them, the loyalty of the Diablo community is unwavering so player reaction towards their comments were largely negative.

One commenter decided to hit back at the Bungie FPS by saying that they “haven’t touched Destiny since last week’s reset” and that they “hit World Tier 3 last night,” indicating that they’re enjoying the latter more than the former. The developer’s critical post even prompted a reaction from Blizzard president Mike Ybarra, who was simply bemused at the “lazy” comment.

Based on Diablo 4’s largely positive critical reception, however, it seems that the Destiny 2 dev is in the minority as many fans continue to play the exciting ARPG from Blizzard. Only time will tell if the fourth main line installment can keep this type of success up, but for now we’ll just have to keep on grinding our way through Sanctuary against the ever-present, level-scaling enemies.
