Deshaun Watson will try to make it back for the Colts game.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Deshaun Watson is making good progress in his rehab from his bruised right rotator cuff, and is throwing, Kevin Stefanski said.“He’s working through his rehab, which does include throwing,” Stefanski said. “He’s making progress for sure.”
He declined to provide more details on how close Watson is to playing, and wouldn’t comment on reports that the Watson can be back as soon as Sunday.A source told cleveland.com that Watson has a deep contusion of the rotator cuff which presents almost like a strain, and that the Browns won’t play him until he’s pain-free and throwing normally. But he made a lot of progress last week, which has the Browns believing there’s a chance he’ll play.
A noted orthopedic who hasn’t treated Watson told cleveland.com that a bruised rotator is two to six week injury. Sunday will mark four weeks from when he first injured the shoulder. Watson worked inside last week while the players practiced outside. Stefanski wouldn’t say if Watson will practice outside with the team on Wednesday when they return to their facility after a “Victory Monday” and an off day on Tuesday.
Watson was on the sidelines Sunday while third-string quarterback P.J. Walker started the Browns 19-17 victory over the 49ers. He threw two interceptions and earned a 45.2 rating, but made some big-time throws, including those of 58 and 26 yards to Amari Cooper on a touchdown drive and field goal drive, respectively.
