Former Springbok flyhalf Derick Hougaard remains in a coma and in critical condition at Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria as he"fights the greatest battle of his life".
Hougaard , capped eight times by the Springboks between 2003 and 2007, has been in hospital since he fell ill suddenly at his home last Saturday, with doctors confirming he is battling respiratory pneumonia. Singer Nádine, Hougaard's partner since 2017, had him admitted to the hospital 10 days ago and has been at his side throughout as concerns from all corners of the South African rugby community have flooded in.
