Deputy President Paul Mashatile has instructed parliament against withdrawing the Broadcasting Act Bill, despite Communications Minister Khombela Davis Malatsi's attempt. The cabinet spokesperson said the Bill is an executive Bill and cannot be withdrawn without cabinet approval.

Khumbuzo Ntshaveni , the cabinet spokesperson, stated that Deputy President Paul Mashatile has instructed parliament that the Broadcasting Act Bill remains in effect despite the attempt by Communications Minister, Khombela Davis Malatsi , to withdraw it. Malatsi had tried to withdraw the Bill due to issues regarding financial sustainability, editorial independence, and political interference at the public broadcaster.

However, the deputy president has stated that the Bill is an executive Bill and cannot be withdrawn without cabinet authorization. The cabinet has accepted that there was no malice intended by Malatsi, attributing the situation to standard protocols
