A Trump-appointed judge has been assigned to oversee a lawsuit by House Dems asking for the release of the president's tax returns
House Democrats’ legal bid for President Donald Trump’s tax returns has been assigned to a district court judge appointed by Trump.filed Tuesday by lawmakers demanding the administration turn over six years of the president’s tax filings.for the administration in another high-profile fight with Democrats, when he decided that lawmakers did not have the legal standing to sue to prevent Trump from reassigning money appropriated by Congress to build a wall along the border with Mexico.
Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal is seeking Trump’s filings under a 1924 law allowing the heads of Congress’s tax committees to examine anyone’s private tax information. The administration has rejected a subpoena for the documents, saying Democrats do not have a legitimate reason for seeking his returns.
