House Democrats' main super PAC, the House Majority PAC, is opening a"war room" in New York after a series of losses in House races in the past two elections.
Key losses in various House seats in Long Island, the Hudson Valley, and the central part of New York have led to the creation of a"rapid response" center for next year's election, per Axios.The office that is being created in the Empire State will respond to news and attacks made by Republican candidates against Democratic ones, along with hiring opposition research and communication employees, according to the outlet.
Democrats lost several key seats in 2020 and 2022, with many candidates in the most recent election riding the coattails of Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin, who lost but overperformed against Gov. Kathy Hochul . One of the most notable losses in last year's election was Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Sean Patrick Maloney losing to Mike Lawler, becoming the first DCCC chairman to lose reelection in his seat since 1980.

Nick LaLota, George Santos, Anthony D’Esposito, Mike Lawler, Marc Molinaro, and Brandon Williams are the ones being targeted by Democrats' new"war room.""We’ve schooled Democrats in New York for two cycles in a row, winning even in seats Democrats took for granted," said the president of Congressional Leadership Fund, Dan Conston, per the outlet.
Republicans, who won back control of the House in 2022, hold a narrow majority and will be looking to defend the various New York seats which gave them control of the lower chamber despite underperforming in much of the country.
