On Instagram, Lovato now lists her pronouns as they/them/she/her

Explaining that she used they/them pronouns when her “masculine and feminine energy” felt balanced, Lovato said she has recently “been feeling more feminine” and has “adopted she/her again.
Lovato, who identifies as both queer and pansexual, first came out as nonbinary in 2021, taking to Twitter to announce that she had changed her pronouns to they/them after “doing some healing and reflective work.” Per Lovato, the decision captured “the fluidity I still feel in my gender expression” and allowed her “to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and am still discovering.
In addition to addressing the change in pronouns, Lovato promoted her eighth studio album, Holy Fvck, which comes out on August 19. Describing the album as a move to rock and roll with a lot of “sexually empowered” songs, Lovato — who has openly struggled with addiction and survived a near-fatal overdose in 2018 — expressed joy over creating new music while sober. “I’m so proud of it,” she said of the album.
